Due to high demand in First term, the Lauriston Arts Association asked Christine Honan to organise another one of her very popular Art Walks. Christine tailored the event to suit this busy time of year by holding the lunch, talk and gallery tour at the chic local Italian eatery and gallery Sagra. A group of Fine Art enthusiast parents were treated to a tour of Sagra’s gallery by one of the curators and then a fabulous antipasto lunch in a private dining room. We then enjoyed a very informative presentation on ‘Collecting & Investing in Art’ by Director of Avec Pleasure Art Consultancy, Ms. Anne McGravie Wright.
Anne has an impressive background as an Art Conservator and Contemporary Art Consultant for State Art Galleries and significant Art Collections within Australia. She advised the parent group to buy Art because it moves you and enriches your life. She also encouraged New Collectors to read diverse Art History books and particularly books about collecting Art. To visit a wide range of Art Museums and to attend Art Fairs wherever possible, keeping an Art diary to capture your impressions.
It was great to see so many parents make the time for this event at such a busy time of year. We were really pleased that Mr. Morrison could join the group, especially as he shared some exciting news about the high regard for the current year twelve students’ work.
